This was conceived as a "musical engine" that existed in demo form on my hard drive for about a year. Obsession with death and illness consumed my adolescence, and the perpetual panic, dread and resignation that came with it threatened to dismantle my day-to-day life and personal relationships as I approached adulthood. For the last two years I have effectively combated the hypochondria and incessant anxiety with medication, but I still wanted to create a piece of music out of my memory of a terror almost serene in its void-like expansiveness, and its ability to corrode and permanently colour one's perspective on their own existence.
